I think it is important for us to know how social networking works because all of our students have one or more accounts on xanga or myspace. It is how they communicate with one another. We need to know how they operate so we can educate the students on the dangers of the sites. I have spoken to some of my former students and warned them that they might not want to put day to day activity's on their site. It is an on- line diary for some. I insight that I gained was that people will put anything on their page. Somethings we do not need to know....I think a school or library could put useful information out there, however you can not access them from school.
